A Point in History: Following the Food from Hearth to Table with the Chronicles of Adam

Lynchburg Museum @Point of Honor · November 1-2, 2019 ·

For the first time in the interpretive programming of the historic house Point of Honor, an evening tour will be offered to the public created from the perspective of the enslaved people who lived and worked on the antebellum plantation. Offering a “new point of view” of the historic plantation house, the tour utilizes spaces never before seen by the public on tour, and encourages questions and conversation at the end. Professional actor Gloria Simons and interpreter Dontavius Williams are leading the programming with their performances. Staff and volunteers   Kelley Fanto Deetz, Ph.D. is both a consultant to the project, and will be on hand for Saturday’s programming, offering an open conversation with Dontavius Williams, new interpretation of African American life and culture, and the importance of foodways as a pathway into American history.
